Just below the throttle there are 2 metal tubes with rubber boots on them. Pull the rubber boots back to find the adjustments. Just be sure to leave a little play in it and that the throttle will close all of the way when you are done.

My '03 Sporty did the same thing. It happened three times before I finally got no throttle response at all. I did notice too that I didn't get full throttle during this time. Turned out the throttle grfip had broken where the cable ferrule attaches inside the grip mounting. These, evidently are all plastic. I looked all over for metal replacements with no luck. I checked with three dealers and several independents and no one had a metal one. They all said this was the first time they ever heard of this. The grips that broke were Kuryakyn. I put Kuryakyn's back on and no problems out of these. That happened two years ago. The ones that broke were installed less than six months prior to the failure.

Ridzalot so the metal part at the top of the cables were loose where it attaches to the housing? Because mine are loose.

Have you thought about adjusting the star below your throttle which tightens and loosens your throttle grip.

For my 98 their is a certain procedure that is detailed in the manual, I would suggest looking in there. My throttle felt like it was getting looser and looser and the cable actually broke, I am glad I pulled the handle apart because it was frayed, I put it back together and ordered a new one.Two days later it broke.(thank god I was in my driveway). I would suggest lubing down the cables and checking to make sure the are not frayed.
