Default 3.3 Gallon Nightster Tank

Usually my fuel indicator comes on after around 90-95 miles.
Just curious if anyone knows how many miles I can get out of the reserve?

I think there should be about 1.1 gallon left in the tank when the light comes on.

I guess I'm getting about 45 mpg, just don't want to risk getting stranded on the Freeway on my 30 mile commute back from work.

If your bike is FI, you don't have a "reserve".

Depends on your mods and driving style!

With my mods and highway driving on a trip from Phoenix to Laughlin this past weekend, I maxed my tank out at 128miles! Barely made it to the pump. Filled up 3.122 galllons.

I knew there wasn't an easy straight answer out there, and that it all depends on a bunch of variables.
I guess I'll just start looking for gas stations after around 100 miles.... Thanks for the link to that thread Murdered Iron, I knew there was probably one out there, I just couldn't find it !

With the fuel light on I've pushed it to 30 miles but, didn't want to chance it any further. I've had too many close calls in the middle of no where to be willing to take my chances by passing up a gas station.

Since my mods and Dyno tune my XL50's fuel light comes on at like 75-85 miles not 90-95 like it use to. I have went like 15 miles or so with the fuel light on. I always top my tank off so my light really never comes on.

If you stand your bike up while filling it you should get 3.3 gallons in it. My wifes light comes on she usually puts 1.9-2.0 gallons in it. So 1.1 to 1.3 is probably whats left so thats another 45 miles. She gets about 47-50mpg, 55mpg on trips and her bike has a Frankenstein trike kit on it to boot.

The farthest out I've ever been when the light came on was 40+- a mile or two. When I stopped at the gas station (first one I came to) I put just a hair over 3 gallons in. So I was real close to out.
