I've lusted after the 883 for years. I like the extra displacement, but that dingleberry POS horn between the V on the left side of the engine ruins it for me. I'll take the 883.

Same horn used on just about every other BT Harley, just mounted a little lower on the 1200C....
Interesting..

RE: Sporty 883?
I have a 2006 883C. I love it. I drive it to and from work on a daily basis. It is great for city driving for the simple reason that it is more nimble than the bigger MCs. It has the power to pull my fat azz to 80plus mph and enough umph to get out of the way of others. I someday am going to buy a Fatboy, Custom or RK, but I will keep my sporty for around town driving and Friday nights out. I may have the 1200 conversion done on mine if and when I can afford it. I do wish that I had purchased the 1200 even though I love my scoot the way it is. (Is this a mixes message?)

The 883C, which I have, in my opinion, is the better looking bike right off the showroom floor. I have a 2003 and the profile of the rear end looks way better than the 1200 counterpart. They came with different seats is the reason for the difference, and it was a special order (upcharge) to get the low profile seat on the 1200. Not to try and fool anyone though, it did have a lot to do with dollars at the time!! Regardless, I love my 883C and after the mods that I have made in the last 3 1/2 years, it keeps up with my father in law's 96ci Street Bob(stock, of course).

RE: Sporty 883?
I went with the 883L because that's the bike that spoke to me. I am short (5'6") and both the 883L and the 1200L were appropriate. In my very humble opinion, the look of the 883L blows all but the nightster out of the water. Not a fan of the wide custom tank. I love the classic peanut tank.
By the way, with the addition of a high flow k&n air filter, 48 jet and vance and hines slip ons, I am very happy with the bike's performance.

I have an 883 standard. Have had it for a year now and love it, but I have to say that I wouldnt mind having more power. Getting the conversion for sure. Solo the bike is perfect as is, but I do a lot of 2-up and hiway riding. I suppose it really just depends on what your using it for.
