Default Nightster w/bad ECM. Now what??? :(

As some may know via previous thread of mine, I've been having non fire issues with my 08 Nightster for a month now and have tried to diagnose it with no progress. Decided to finally trailer it in .

They are charging battery overnight tonight and will finish diagnosis in morning but I got an update call alluding to suspicion that I have a bad ECM!! WTF!!?? Bad ECM on 08 with 5000 miles???

Well nonetheless if that's the problem what are my options? Aren't these new from hd $1000+? Is there aftermarket options? Refurbished options?

Also is my bike not under warranty? How does that work and when does a warranty terminate? Thanks y'all

Switch to carb with an ignition box.

If it's not under warranty I would just carb it. My EFI bike gives me more fits than any of my carbed bikes ever do or ever have.

There are probably other suggestions but this one is mine.

If my 2010 SB ever give me any BS, and it is going to cost over $1000.00 to put a new FI or ECM in it. I will carb it in a heart beat. I already have a few carbs here that will work, and I just don't see me fighting the wiring and mess. Give me 9 to 15 wires, and I will have a running bike.

I have the factory ECM on shelf, 1200R 2007. Will not give it away for free, but will not charge $$$$. If you think Thundermax is too expensive. Otherwise it's the way to go, complete factory ECM replacement that makes your bike run as never before.

Thunder Max,,,
with Wide band 02's,,
that should make ya horney XD...

Oh btw It has "Autotune"
Tunes for maximum efficiancy and power as you ride,,
No need for a dyno man Unless you wanna see numbers.

Only draw back to auto tune is IF something goes wrong It will re tune
on the fly and hide the problem to some extent.......
Most disable auto tune once It's set....

Replaces factory ECM,,not an addon,,,cool huh

Wide band 02's,,,best i can describe that Is,,,
The Narrow band stockers only send one signal,,thats to richen at open loop level
Wide band can see and richen In increments as needed no matter where on the
fuel tables your at.
Sampling rate Is I think 512 steps,,
Factory Is 2 on or off
PCV 256
Master 256
V&h 128,,,,,,
I think.

H-d ECM was $360 from local dealer. Not as bad as I was thinking.

More power and tune would be nice but I'm on the fence. It's not a necessity.....but would be a good investment Eh?!
