Default Recommend me a good high volume tank.

I want to swap out the stock tank for a larger 4gal tank or so. I ride @30 miles each way to work and the stock tank is making me stop every 2 days for gas. I would like a stretched tank that is wider also to make the bike look a little more like the big V-Twins. Would also like a single gas cap in the middle of the tank. Not big fan of the dual cap or one cap to one side of tank.

Oh... someone mentioned that "Custom Chrome" made a nice one but I can't find their website anywhere.

Links appreciated.

Thanks,
Hawk

I like the look of the stock 4.5 gallon tank on the 'C' models..

"Flows" with the line of the bike very well.

I agree with OFG, if ya' gotta have a larger tank. Plus, you can get it color matched and mounted for about the same $$ as any other tank would cost you...

Do you mean "stock"? If so, they are available from Harley dealers. Order it from a discount Harley dealer like Zanotti's, Surdyke's, or Chicago Harley...

Stopped at my local dealer today and parts dept told me that the larger tanks they have on the new Sportsters will not mount to the older models (like my 88'). Other suggestions?

I assumed you had an '04-'06. So much for assumptions! Peruse J&P, Dennis Kirk, and search Google. You might have to "chop" one on, but I'm sure you can find one to fit (like the "fat bob"). Anyway you slice it, you can do it.
