ok is there two seperate drains ? also my bottle came with a little over 30oz. but any help would be great i got confused looking this up is the tranny primary all the same i already did my motor oil. sorry for beating a dead horse. i came from sport bikes and all in one setup.
DRain for the primary is on the primary cover on the bottom, and you have to pull the derby cover to fill it and it takes a quart. Might want to replace the oring on the plug and I always get a new derby gasket
Let us know what your bike is, it will help. The drain points for the engine oil are located in slightly different areas depending on the year. A service manual will help you greatly in this arena. The factory one or a Clymer's manual work well. I've used both and prefer the Clymer's.
Drain plug shuld be directly under the derby cover (larger round cover) you can fill it through the primary chain inspection cover (smaller cover held on with 2 bolts) with a small funnel. Be sure not to mess with the primary chain tensioner which is forward of the drain plug on the bottom and directly under the inspection cover.

Hey Kountry... we all know about the dreaded "get the manual" recommendation.. but if you are planning on doing stuff yourself.. the HD service manual is pretty much a must have... about a year ago somebody from the forums decided to change the oils without the manual .. he got confused with the engine/tranny oil plugs.. and drained the tranny oil... needless to say.. he damaged the clutch system... he had to pay around $1000 in repairs... besides.. having the manual will give you more confidence when it comes to some other maintenance and when modding your scoot..
You spent what,,,$5,000,,,,$7,000,,,$11,000 for a sportster
and yer too cheap to get the HD service book ??
That book will save you hundreds,,an you can get It all greasy like mine
while It's sitting right next to you held open with wrenches...
The manual is a must. I bought mine on ebay for $15. It was a 2 disc cd and I just printed it out on my printer. I put it into 2 3-ring binders and it is always next to me when I work on my bike.
