Which is better, detatchable or permanent side plates?

 

Are you asking about back rest mounts?

 

If you're talking backrest mounts, it depends. If it's really important that you be able to remove the "sissy" bar and you don't mind the looks of the detachable mount go detachable. One thing though, they have a habit of rattling if someone is not leaning on them.

I went solid as I think it looks good on the bike and I hate rattles.

 

I want to add a back rest and a 5 bar luggage rack. I don't think I would like the rattle so it looks like a solid mount would be best. Thanks for the input.
