Default 1200 conversion ?'s

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2008 XL883 and I'm looking to do the 1200 conversion and wanted to get some opinions on whether to do it with the dealer or buy the kit and have a shop do it instead? I know I still have to do the download with the dealer, or can a shop do that as well? I've only had the bike for about 3 months now and it's my first HD so I'm just starting to get my feet wet here. Also, if anyone knows a shop in Long Beach I would appreciate the referral.

Thanks!

Do not buy the HD kit. The heads suck. Call Dan at NRHS and buy one of his kits. If you have a good independent shop in mind, you'll have great success with one of NRHS kits.

what ? you have experience with the hd heads ? or just hear say ??

look if you want any warrenty then go with either stage 1 or stage II
if you dont want the warrenty and have to shave a little here and there to make the NRHS kits fit , by all means get it...

Being a dealer for NRHS Performance, I've installed my fair share of these set ups to say that these kits are great is an understatement. They make a specific kit just for 883-1250(3 9/16" bore) upgrade which are direct bolt-ons with NO need to alter anything. Dan Dunn will get you going in the direction you need (303)702-1600.

You might want to give Zippers a look too, they've been around a LONG time.

Zippers performance are great products also. But they cost way more than NRHS and offer barely half the support as Dan does.

NRHS Performance's 3-9/16" Iron lined aluminum Cylinders are made by Axtell and their Cp forged aluminum Pistons are made by Carillo for unbeatable performance at a great price.
