500 HP seems a lot high to me. The addition of the turbo would tack on around 300%, if that were the case. Still, a 'Busa should eat a Harley for dinner. Love my HDs, but sportbikes are much faster.

Not many bikes have enough left over power cruising at 120MPH/200KPH that when you apply more throttle at this speed, will lift the front wheel - see video in my earlier post. Not sure if this is a stock busa engine though. The video says 499HP from dyno. EDIT: Did a google check and it says stock Busa puts out 194HP which is still scary fast - illegal highway speeds before reaching red line in first gear.

oh god not another nightster keeping up with sport bikes thread again? jimmy's right. you were keepin up because it was a charity run, plain and simple. they could have waved goodbye at any moment and there would be nothing you could do about it and i don't care what you got done to that nightster.

Crotchrockets are definitely faster than our Harleys. No doubt about it. It's a totally different ball of wax. Nobody buys a Harley to break any land speed records. And, in my opinion, if anyone is going over 130 mph on a motorcycle they're asking to become roadkill.

I was cruising around town on my Iron, and Saw a bright green Lambo ahead of me, I down shifted and passed him like he was standing still....Cause he was parked. True Story.

The only chance a Harley has against a sportbike is leaving from a light. Up to about an 1/8 mile, or about the distance light to light on the street.
Maybe to a 1/4 mile if the HD has enough of a jump on the sportbike.
To accomplish this, the Harley has to be heavily modded in motor, chassis, clutch, hell just about everything, and a really good rider has to be on board. I have raced against many sportbikes on my FXR-won some, lost some.
Stock wheelbase Sportbikes have one weakness-leaving a light. Short wheelbase, high revving to get into the powerband, and with most sportbike riders not used to drag racing them, and the proper clutch control needed to have a low 60 ft time. They are used to canyons, wheelies, and top speed rollons.
Once a big sportbike gets rolling in the freeway, forget it-it's bye bye Harley!

I didn't want to comment because I'm new here, but the DL650 I ride is one of the slowest Japanese bikes around - light years slower acceleration than a busa - and they do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and a 1/4 mile in less than 13. The SV650 - widely considered a "beginner bike" and not even considered a sport bike by most as it's a twin - can do 0-60's in about 3.5s and the 1/4 in 12 or less at 105-110 trap speeds.

Most Dyabusas can do the 1/4 in well under 10 seconds at 140-150mph and 0-60 in well under 3 seconds. They don't handle very well compared to sport bikes but they will really march.
