Cash doesn't really talk. HD would rather finance the scooter for you, that way they make profit on both the bike and the financing.

I don't know what the market for used bikes is in your area, but buying used private party and still under warranty is always the most cost effective way to go! I've seen '08 N's for as low as $6,500 on CL!

Dealer HD pricing is outrageous compared to what you can get a barely used one off of Craigslist is. I bought a used less then 1200 mile 06 883r on CL for half the price a dealer wanted. As much as like buying brand new its really not the smart thing to do be it car or bike.

Are you sure they're even going to offer the model you want in 2012? They are known to drop models on occasion.

A friend was waiting for the new FXSTCs for 2011 thinking the price would drop on the 2010s. That didn't work out so well for him once they dropped the FXSTC.

I have very little experience in that domain but I've been told that buying cash is not going to get you extras or any sort of good deal. Dealers, as far as I know, prefer credits because they charge you more in the end.

Thanks to all for your comments.
They gave my confused mind more to think about. LOL

I am going to the dealers this afternoon, to see what happens. I'll let you know.

Here is how I see it I just bought a a 2011 Nightster and the deal I received was they knocked off all the charges shipping, prep and the rest of that crap so i payed 9,999.00 I am new to riding so I wasn't comfortable buying used with so many people trying to fix there own bike and who knows how many times it was dropped. In NY the difference between what I was looking at new and used wasn't that much I felt better having it new and getting the warranty and I wanted to get it as soon as possible the riding season here is way to short

PS.. HD financing borrowed a boat load of money in 08 from the federal reserve so they are looking to lend money out ... IJS
