Default lowering blocks/brackets

Just saw in another thread someone suggested longer shocks with lowering blocks. Are these as simple as they sound? Do they just lower where the bottom eye of the rear shock attaches? Who makes them?

I got mine off of ebay for $45. The just push the eyelet on the shock back and down a little more to get the height you want with longer shocks (i.e. Road King air shocks). People are a little leery about using them because they say that having the shock at a different angle isn't safe, but I've had mine for over a year, and they are fine. I love them. I put 13" RK air shocks on my Iron, then put the blocks on. Now, it rides about 1/2" shorter than stock, and I LOVE it. These are the ones I got:

They are safe,,,as long as you get good blocks,,
These are one of those parts where quality and
a good history Is needed, People have broken them.

If a shock Is so weak that It will fail due to lowering blocks
I'd suspect they were about to fail anyways blocks or not.
The Block Is the weak point,,
Make shure you got the right grade bolts.

The more you lean any shock on any swingarm
the more progressive It becomes.
This can be a very good thing..
Longer shock,,more progressive,,more travel,,,

Double check Inner fender clearance with shocks at full compression.

So many out there,,,,,

I've installed ALOT of Mac's lowering blocks. Same ones Doctrey posted a link to. Good quality and have never had a problem.

Yes, they simply bolt on where the lower shock bolt is currently mounted.

Does anybody have any pictures of these installed? I have been debating how to upgrade my suspension but there are so many options and of course, everything is dependent on the wallet.

Two of my wife's XLC's have them and Progressive springs up front.

Her 03 is set at 3"

Her 04 is set at 1.5" so she can ride a light weight passenger (our daughter).

Wow, Nice bikes! Thank you so much for the pics. I think this will work for me.

I have been tossing around the idea of the Road King Air Shocks, but like I said, everything is dependent on the wallet.

Thanks again for the pics.

Thanks. If you can find Street Glide shocks they are 1" shorter than Road King shocks.

Make sure you get a quality set and it will come with the proper bolts. I used the 1" Tamarack MW lowering kit http://www.tamarackmw.com/
but the LA Choppers kit, which is a bit more expensive, is just as good. They use a much thicker and sturdier design machined from billet.

Stay away from the thinner sheet metal type like these http://www.road6customs.com/online-s...=0&sort=normal as they have been known to bend.
