I bought an 81' Ironhead and it ran when I got it, but not for long, it started back firing through tthe carb, so I tried cleaning it bu that didn't help either. I purchased and installed a new Super E carb and it did start but quickily died, and then back fired after it quit running. I think it may have flooded, but I am not sure. I am a virgin when it comes to motorcycles so any help on where to start and what to look for would be a great help.

 

So then,you're saying that it's doing the same thing with the super E on it? did you install it? is it jetted for that motor? is it old gas? is your timing set right?
