Per a History Channel special on motorcycles, the Sporties were right side shift to compete with British bikes (Triumph/BSA) which were right side shift.

Last months issue of American Iron had,an article on converting kit,in the Sporster Tech. column.But they did not recommend doing it.

Keep it,and if you really can't ride it get a new one too. I wouldn't be able to bring myself to sell that thing. That is history.

I always thought it was for the dirt track since they put their left leg out and hardly use the rear brake.

i cant afford two bikes. or i would buy a newer one and keep this one.i think i will ride it threw the winter and decide in the spring to keep or sell it. my camera is brocken so no left side pix.

I wonder if the 69 is any easier to kick over than my 67 Ironhead was. That was a serious bear to start [sm=outcold.gif]. And it wasn't so light either [&:]

this one kicks over pretty easly 1-3 kicks will do it. it has electric start to.
