Taking the other side of the coin. If you cannot figure how to get a fender off why would you think 4 hours is an excess. Seat, shocks, lights, wiring harness for tail, brake and signals to undo and pull and replace. Surprised he does not charge you a day to undo all that and put it all back correctly aligned and unscratched with all the screw heads undamaged. Most people cannot fix, eat lunch and clean up in two hours.

From my view here in CT, your dealers rate was decent. I'm shelling out $95 and hour. That's what it cost me for grips. I know, I could have done it myself, but the lazy side of me came out.

Ahhh an ethics question. I would like to think that they do not do this as it would be very easy to get in trouble, and this wouldn't be a pretty court case. For example I get my brand new rear fender installed for 4 hours and head out for a rally. I find out one of the guys I'm talking with had the same job done and it was 2 hours labor. Boom. I have my receipt and go to several other dealers where they tell me 2 hours and get them to testify this and I win. Of course something like exhaust or handlebars would be much easier to come by in this situation and they might be figuring we hardly ever do fender jobs so he will never find out. And thus the viscous cycle of ethical dilemmas continues.

I feel you bro. Not to make excuses but I've got 3 kids under the age of 6 and my youngest (5month old daughter) is special needs. I go from tick to tock all day and pray to find time on the weekend to ride. But then again if I found a little time to start doing it myself it might be a good "get away" and help me save the money!!

Are any other dealerships out there dropping their rewards program other than mine (Man O War Harley Davidson, Lexington, KY)? I find it so odd and unjustified why my dealer would do that!

My dealer (Indianapolis Southside Harley) just started their rewards program last summer, so I am the opposite of you.

do it yourself man...i removed all my tins from my softail and had the new ones installed in less then 3hrs...i've had 1 wide glide, 1 softail custom, and i just got a new SG yesterday. only reason i go to the dealer is to get some apparel and inspection sticker. i buy no parts from them, and do all my work myself. dennis kirk is much better on prices then my dealer...good luck!

Thanks bro...yes I do love Dennis Kirk. That is where I am going to purchase my Big Radius and Stage 1 air filter from.
