Default 2004 Sportster tail/stop/turn wiring problem - help

I have a 2004 sportster that I have removed the stock tail/brake light and have installed a under the fender LED tail/Brake light. I installed the harness that came with the light and it works fine. However, I also changed the socket in the tail lights to handle an 1157 bulb to make them turn/tail/stop lights w/red lenses. Trying to figure out how to wire using the old wiring harness. Can't get it to work without the front turn lights also lighting up when I apply the brakes. Tried the kit from Harley, but it did work either.

Alrighty....hate to inform you but just having 1157 sockets will not get you turn / brake / run lights. The 1157 sockets have three wires:

blue - running light
violet - turn signal / brake light
black - ground

As you noticed in my listing above...the turn signal and the brake light goes across the same wire...and to do this requires a turn / brake / run module. You are better off using your stock turn signal guts because that module is just under $60 from HD. To use the 1157 sockets...you need a module for a Nightster / Iron / 48..which is over $100.

So unless you get a module...the best you can have is turn signals and running lights......or brake lights and running lights.

I have the older module P/N 68286-04, which just makes the turn signals into brake lights. I installed dual filament rear TS's and just spliced the blue TS wire into the blue wire in the harness. I now have run/brake/turn.

The older brake/turn module can be had for $25.00 and up on e-bay.
