Default Throttle lock help for wifes 883L

Well the wife decided to get back into riding again so went out and bought a new superlow in the merlot. The bike has just arrived at the dealer today some 700 miles away so I,m going down there 2 up on the bagger next month to pick up her new bike so she can ride it back and must say it looks really nice in the pics. I can see me riding this more than my bagger, around town anyway. Have bought heaps of accessories for her, ie leather saddle bags, docking kit, turn sig relocation kit an LED headlight a quick detachable screen and crash bar. Now I'm really broke and have no more money to spend on my bike . But one thing a cant find is a quality after market throttle lock that will be easy for her to use on those long trips. I've seen a few but not sure what works and what dosnt so hoping to hear from anyone that has one and is happy with it. Thanks for any replies.

The newer sportys utilize a star wheel thumbscrew to lock the throttle in a certain position. Its on the bottom side of the right control housing. Ive used mine a few times running down the highway when my hands get cramped.

This is what I've used in my past Harleys, and even now with the nightster.
So far the best out of all the others stuff I've tried and it's affordable and easy to install.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VISTA...Q5fAccessories.
Note: If you decide to do this, be patient as your throttle would get tight the first time you install it, so adjust the small set screws and adjustment screw until your throttle goes back and forth with ease, then your done!
BTW, it's easy to engage and disengage, and easy to override on those panic situations.(unlike the thumbwheel in the bottom)
Here's an old pic of it installed on my vrod muscle:

Thanks for that info as I wasnt aware of that but that may do until I get a thumb lock type. It would be better for her just to flick a lever.

Ive emailed that seller for confirmation on its fitment for a 2011 model even though it says it will fit sportsters. It it does fit that will be just the ticket, thankyou.

I have a 2011 nightster and have this on my bike right now. It pretty much fits all harleys. It has 2 rubber adaptor size that can fit most fat or thin grips. Good luck and let us know which one you decide.
BTW: found the pic, here ya go:

the friction starwheel is already on the bike.
have her adjust it when cruising to just enough to hold the throttle from backing off.. use her thumb to adjust

she still can use it to speed up /slow down/return to idle..
just dont tightnen it so tight that it requires too much effort to turn by hand ..

I ride all my bike's with just a little friction ..keeps from holding to hard against the throttle return spring..viola ,no more hand cramps.

of course you hafta "help it" return to idle

Found this and put it on the Superlow - works great. I'm in Canada so it was really convenient. Youtube has some better videos

A throttle rocker is much safer than locking the throttle open.

safer? aint nothing "safe" about a motorcycle...

friction doesnt mean "lock" ..you have to be smarter than the bike ?.
friction just means that it take's both throttle , and return throttle to ride ..
It also does not require constant "hands on the bars/grips"
you can pick your nose with your right hand if needed..
also very good for relieving hand cramps
