Sorry...I disagree. The schematics I made for a couple guys on the XLForum that are shown above were done for the exact reason of removing the rear fender mounted tail light (there is a sticky with all the info on that site) and using the old turn signals (notice the turn signals have only 2-wires running to them) as run / brake / turn like the N's. They wanted some help with the electrical side of it so I made the schematics to help them out....ended up posting on the XLForum for everyone to use. The only difference is that they hard wired it in where I showed utilizing connectors.....just personal preference.

No one has had a problem with getting their lights to function correctly with the $60 module after doing the fender mounted brake light elimination mod. I don't know what problem you had specificly....but I do know that the above works....and utilizes the cheaper HD module.

well, I now know who to credit..CosmoKramer.., Thanks for the diagrams BTW, made install very easy. This works fine and I did it without purchasing the extra HD connectors and using crimp on connectors to save some $.

The orange/white wire on the top left of the schematic is utilized for international models only...the position light....not the brake light as is shown above. It wasn't a big deal because that wire isn't used however some guys were using the schematic for other things. Here is the updated schematic:

WOW, well the more I thought about my XL50 and the way it looks now I'm just going to leave it alone as it's got way too much chrome to ever look like a bobber and I don't feel like taking it apart right now anyways. Thansk for all the input and help. It's nice to see people know there stuff on here.
