Hello. I have been riding a 2009 Iron 883 since july of 09.

The first year I had it, within 2 months, the speedo would just stop working. As in go down to 0 while the bike was moving, then it would spring back. It was fixed under warranty.

Took the bike out of storage this week, and yesterday on the way home from work, at 60+mph, I look down and it is at zero again. I blink, and it zips back up to 65. So I assume it's the same problem and is just goign to get worse. Warranty is not up until July, so I'll surely get it fixed again.

However, does anyone know what the cause of this is? If it broke 2x in three years on a brand new bike, I can assume it will happen again, so I figure I should learn how to fix it myself after the warranty is up in a few months.

Oh yea, and the stock seat was awful after 100 miles. I ordered a C&C lopro and am hoping it is at least a little bit better. black vinyl, gel insert. 300 bucks. Not cheap, but could be worse, and if it lets me ride a full tank without my rear end being a combination of burning hot and numb at the same time, it will be money well spent.
