Default Rigid solo seat mounting (pics)

Here is the setup I'm now using on my bike. The saddle was made by Redtail Leather with "standard" mounting holes. A not fancy but custom front hinge was made to attach to the bike using the same mounting bolt as the fuel tank. Simple rubber bumpers are attached to the frame as shown to support the saddle. The saddle simply pivots forward to access the electronics, and it sits so low that no cover is necessary. The rear of the saddle simply "floats" it is not attached anywhere.

Edited to add the 4th photo of the mounting bracket. Sounds to me like the guy who made this might make a buck or two on them..

Did they make the hinge for you as well or did you do that?

The shop did all the work, but I am convinced that I could have found an equivalent hinge had I searched long enough, maybe at Debrix, or Lick's, or Lowbrow, etc.. because I was looking for a whole solution and didn't consider leaving the rear to float, I glossed over most of the front only mounts, but I know they're out there.

not so fast....been lookin for a seat hinge to fit the sportster and can't find one anywhere. lick's wants 199$ for the h/w kit (yeah ok!) and 300$ for the kit w/ the seat. i asked AJ if he could just sell me the hinge and he said no, you gotta buy the kit! Thanks AJ! the hinge has to be 2 7/8" wide to fit the tank mount and no one out there has a hinge that wide at the tank mount. found one on ebay that will have to be modified as it's like a pubic hair too short (2 5/8"). don't know how licks can justify that, the seat in their kit you can get for 100$ so their charging 200$ for h/w?

Looks good. So the only mount is the front pivot? Doesn't it move around?

Thanks, and it doesn't scooch around even a bit. The shop owner said he's done many that way, none ever return for fixing. With weight on it, and the rubber/leather contact, it's tight.

That's EXACTLY what I had in mind...I emailed them at bikersaddles and they said they didn't have a rigid solution. How was the mount made?

There it is. I took the saddle off for you guys. I can ask the owner of the shop if he'd make these for you guys and about how much it'd cost if you like.
