Rocker Box Gasket Failure Rate
For EFI Sportsters, is it not if but when will these gaskets leak?
In other words, do some never leak?
Should they be periodically changed...like every 10K service?
Are their 4 small circular gaskets and the large square gasket per cover...anything else? Also what is the typical cost of parts for this leak repair?

I know some people on the other forums haven't had either of theirs leak....with 20k+ miles....so it is like Russian Roulette sporty style I guess.
My suggestion....only replace it if it leaks...and then only replace the one that is leaking! My first leaker came under warranty...I was out of town so i took it to a dealer. They decided to replace both front and rear rocker gaskets. Very nice of them...until a day later the one that WASN'T leaking started to leak!
There are 4 small fiber washers that go under the washers on the bolts holding the rocker cover on. Then there is an outer and a small square shape inner gasket inside the rocker itself.

Just had both mine done at 7200 miles.
Back visibly leaking oil, front just starting to weep.
$195 bill at the indy.
Notorious problem with the newer Sportsters.
I certainly hope it is not a reoccurring problem, i understand from previous post's on this subject that Harley used sub standard gaskets at factory assembly.

I may just be lucky, or maybe because my bike is older, but I bought cork gaskets, and dipped all the bolts in silicon and then put this on both sides of the cork gaskets. It's great stuff until you have to take it back off, use at your own risk.
