So far on my XL50 I have had both done by like 13K and the rear one done again at like 15K, I got the bike with 9600 so I don't know if they were done before that? My 08 1200C has like 4500 on it and no leaks so far that I see, but I have a feeling that the rear is not too far off of a seep.

I just made a joke yesterday on here that the rocker box gaskets should be part of the 10k service, but i'm starting to think maybe part of the 5k service. LOL! I love HD, but this issues just a bit out of hand if you ask me. My old Honda CBR600F4 had 33k on the clock and the valve cover gaskets was just starting to seep.

I did mine at the end of last summer. I did both, I feel if you change the one change the other. Like some one said its a crap shoot. I did mine at 6000 miles and the bike is 12 years old. My mechanic buddy said it is because I ride it to hard. I told him that if its going to happen because of that its gonna happen often.

I have been told that same thing, but I'm not all tha hard on the bikes and they are bikes, not a econo car so should be able to have fun with them.

do they not make aftermarket ones for the newer ones bikes yet? Might be a better bet for the guys out of warranty.

I'm still wondering if the gaskets are leaking due to the EFI & you guys getting on the throttles before the engines warmed up properly. I don't remember seeing this many rocker leaks with carb'd models.

My indy says he only sees Sportys with this problem and he does a lot of them too. He thinks it is a design error.

thats what my mechanic at the dealer said , "do you warm it up before hitting the trhottle" i always make shure the rocker boxes fill warm enough before taking off
