Same here... but I wanted an option to swap for on longer trip and avoid the frequent stops. And did not wanted to loose the cool looks of the peanut tank. I know, I know, I can always just take the RGC, but this Sportster is just tooo much fun. With friends that have touring bikes I needed a minimum of 100 miles... so the 3.3 tank it is. I kept the 2.1 ready for easy swap. Best of both worlds. If they made a 3.3 gal tank with the flat bottom like the 2.1 it would be perfect. But for now, the 3.3 tank looks great, imho of course.

Soon to be a tank in the same color as my 2.1 tank... Photos back to back... and yes, getting rid of the front fork reflectors and the skulls in the 2.1 tank...

I always have found the 4.5 gallon tank the best looking tank in the Sportster range.

A peanut tank doesn't define a Sportster.
It's always about the motor!
A Panhead with a peanut isn't a Sportster.

When I was considering a larger tank I looked at a 4 gal that looked something close to that one (the original poster put up) but - To Me it just seemed like there should be a middle dash on it or even a dash with the fill hole off to the side - Anyhow I ended up going with the 3.3 King and am very satisfied with it. I like the metal finish on the bike thou..

I got the 4.5 installed this evening and rode around a bit. Pretty easy to setup. The tank vent hose is a little too long but that's about it. Massive size difference in the width when looking at it from the seat. I have a painter lined up but I don't hate the factory paint as much now that it is on the bike. I'm thinking about ditching the white wall ribbons now. They don't seem to match the new theme.

That 4.5 was a 2008 "Custom Color":
Two-tone Golden Glow / Black Glow.
