I'll comment once I have enough posts to see the pic...haha.

But, I'm interested in seeing how all he different larger tanks fit, as that's probably going to be one of the first things I do whenever I finally bring home a Nightster.

ETA: I can finally see it...looks good. I almost want to say I prefer the look of the 4.5 gal tank compared to the original. I like it.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I got the tank from J&PCycles website, searched 4.5 gal. tank for sportster.
I'm going to sell the stock tank, and I will have to modify the mirrors, or get new ones.
Pixiechitos, it won't get painted. It will be sanded and clear coated like my fenders and side tins.
I should have finished pics of it next friday if i'm not too hungover from St.Pattys day festivities............

Looks OK, but doesn't it kind of "un-48" the the 48? IMO the whole thing about the 48 us the peanut tank.

I think the main thing I have learnt in life so far is when something looks cool it isn't very practical and when something is practical it isn't very cool. I think it still looks good, not as cool as the peanut tank but heaps more practical.

Up till the introduction of the new "custom" it was the fat front wheel/tire that made it stand out. IMO

The welds on the tank were unforgivable, and since I'm a welder I fixed them. Here it is painted flat black, I'm thinking of painting all tins primer red with a clear matte seal. As it evolves, I'll post pics.
I seriously love it !
