Default Forty eight rear fender reflector

Has anyone removed the rear fender reflector off their forty eight? It seems to be glued to the under side of the fender.

That was my first mod. Just peel it off, it's stuck on with double sided tape.

If you're talking about the one on the rear of the fender as said it's just held on with double stick tape. Just pull it off. If you;re talking about the reflectors on the side of the fender it requires a little more work.

the rear just pulls off like others have stated. i removed the rear wheel to get the side plastic and side reflectors tho. yes a bit more of a pain but easy and fun chopping that plastic crap out of there! if nothing else it was good to see how the rear wheel and fender come off and a chance to use my new tourqe wrenches. it was impossible to get the fender off completely without taking the rear wheel off.

The ones on the side can easily be covered with wide pinstriping tape to avoid having to remove the shocks to drop the wheel to gain access to the underside of the fender and so on and so forth until you get them off....

The ones on the side aren't that difficult to do but it was more involved than I expected. Basically just put the bike on a jack, removed the 2 upper shock bolts, and jack the bike up to give you plenty of room. Do the following one side at a time. Remove the signal lights and 2 other bolts holding the fender/reflector to the struts. Remove the signal light wiring from the reflector, drill out the rivets that hold the reflector to the fender. Then just reassemble. Make sure to ziptie your signal light wiring to the struts. Repeat process of the other side. Lower the bike back down, line up and rebolt your shocks and you're done.

Note that reflector on the left side is connected to the swinging license plate bracket. So you'll either have to modify that piece or relocate your plate.

yeah but that's ghetto....why not just tear into it and remove any plastic crap that doesn't need to be there. plus, the added benefit is you can now se the tire through the fender instead of some black plastic ****.
