Default opinions on re-jet

I'm here in Idaho, new rider 2006 883C just about 4400 miles ready for the 5000 mile dealer service. My question is, I'd like to do the upgrades to the SE air cleaner & the HD slip ons. I know from past postings that I need to re-jet. The problem is cash, I can probably only afford the 5000 mile service & the re-jet. My local dealer has quoted 1 hr for the rejet plus the cost of the parts. I can buy the pipes & SE ac from a dealer in Chicago, pay freight and still save about 15% on what my dealer will charge me. (yes I've told them about this & they still won't come down on price) The problem is it will probably be a month later after my service before i can afford the pipes & ac. What if any are the problems I might face by running with the stock ac & pipes with a new jet for a month or so? Any one done this?
Thanks

I have not done it, but it doesn't sound like a good idea. My opinion is based on working on old carbuerated cars -- so someone with more bike experience might know better.
The basic physics of it though say you will be adding a lot more fuel into your engine without increasing the amount of air. This will skew your air/fuel ratio toward the rich side -- which will make the bike run poorly. It will take longer to warm up (may not get up to optimal operating temp at all). It will probably bog if you twist the throttle on quickly, and may even stall out.

I don't think you will do any permanent damage doing it this way -- but the bike won't be fun to ride.

Edit - you might want to check ebay for the ac and pipes -- you can get them much cheaper than from the dealer.
