Default Removing Military Stickers From Front Fork

Anyone have an idea of how to remove my military sticker from my front forks? I have tried a hair dryer, and every solvent I can find that won't destroy the aluminum. Nothing seems to be able to penetrate the mylar face and dissolve the adhesive.

I have scrapped off a piece the size of a dime with my thumb nail, but that is all. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Use a razor knife to get it off. The kind that are used for scraping stickers out of windshields. Then use WD40 to get the residue off.

Default Heat Gun

Use a heat gun to soften the glue and the sticker will come off. The solvent will take off the glue.

Yep, going to need heat and/or solvent plus the scrapper. Those things are a BITCH to take off. That's why I got a military decal bracket for my bikes. In this picture it's the "glowing rectangle" by the front cylindar. This is the one designed to be bolted to the front caliper of the big twins...just zip tied really tight to frame.

Use an old credit card to scrape at it if you must scrape. Razors will cut the clear coat.
Ditto on the WD-40, but if that doesn't work try a product called "Goof-Off". A citrus-based solvent that works pretty good and doesn't have a solvent odor is "Goo-Gone". If you get the solvent around the edges, sometimes you can peel it away a little at a time with little effort. If you're not careful with heat, it may dis-color the clear coat.

Harleyscuba has the right advice about a scraper. Plastic is the way .... but only if you have to. Some heat and a lot of patience along with a mild solvent will do it eventually. There really is no " Magic In A Can "

Only problem with a razor or scraper is that you'll also remove the coating off the slider too before you know it.
