Default Why did you pick your bars?????

I am presently leaning towards putting either apes or drag bars on my 2007 Anniversary XL 50.

My question(s) - what kind of bars do you have and why did you pick the bars you picked?

I like the looks of both kinds of bars but from my reading here it appears that apes are more comfortable while the drag bars are better for harder riding. The sporty is my second bike but still will be ridden pretty hard on twisties.

I know the ultimate choice is mine but I would just like to know what the driving factor was for you to make the final decision you made on which bars to go with.

Thanks in advance.

I picked Licks 10" Z bars. Wanted something to call my own and so far the mini apes feel better than my stock lower profile bars. Everybody told me to do drags, but didn't want to lean way down. I needed to get my hands, arms, and back up higher to keep the numbness and lower back pain to go away. I am 5ft 5" and 125lbs.. I am 38 riding a rough suspension Sporty! I do Love my bike though!

I picked my 26" brooms because I wanted my nightster to have a aggressive, sport look to it.

I went with drags since I love the looks of them as well as the feel and control. I'm and ex dirt bike and sport bike riders so I like to have my hands lower on the bike. My 1200 C still has the stock bars, but I like them since there is not much rise and pullback to them.

I chose bars from a Nightrod Special, mainly because I like to ride agressively. These are wide for good leverage, and low enough to cut the wind at high speeds. They are more comfortable than drags, and have no cable routing/tank clearance issues. Plus, they are made from lightweight stainless steel (they are available in black, too).
