Default friscos

i went with frisco bars, from Biltwell, they are different and i didn`t have to change any cables. i just did this, this winter so i`ve only rode around 2 times since putting them on. i like them so far, better then the 1200C stock setup. can`t wait till the goood warm weather gets here !

Plan on having to extend at least your brake cable with any bars taller than 8". I have 10" Z bars that are 29" wide. I put a "build your own" kit from Magnum products. Purchased a 6ft universal braided line and cut it to 38". I cut a few zip ties on the rest of the cables and got enough pull on them and raised them up a little closer to the gas tank. Havent riden the bike with them on yet, but they feel more comfortable than my stock bars.

Seems 10" / 12" inch bars are a good place to start.

Extending cables must raise the project cost by quite a bit?

depends on if you need to estend all of them. Burly makes a kit, but I think it is like $250 or so. The Magnum brake line kit that I purchased was $55.

Shame on you for not internally wiring them. It only took me 8 or so hours to do mine.

I got mine off of Ebay. Just do a search for Harley Z Bars. They will come up. I have a black set & think they were $69 plus shipping.

Internally wiring this is an absolute pain!!!...but worth it.

You can find them all over eBay. I got mine from here,I think I offered them $100 for the bars and they took the offer. It was a couple years ago now. 1 thing you must know is if you have the same style riser I have you will have to cut them in 1/2. The gap for the clamp space on the bars isn't reduced wide enough. You need about another 1/2 inch or so. I was going to make a lower support to fit under the riser for support but after clamping them down they seem perfectly fine and stable. I live in the twisty mountain roads and no movement issues. Very stable so haven't gave it another thought.

We didn't have time when I installed them,we just got done painting it and getting it back together the night before "Thunder In The Valley" a couple years ago and haven't even thought about it since, lol

Actually I do have a 2nd thought about it did you have to grind your wire holes out more? It lines up with the control arm clamp and I just had a clipped wire there (front brake light wire)it's just a little short for the wires to fit by the clamp. When I tear her down again for paint I am going to grind the hole out more.
