Default Clip-on question

I am seriously thinking about buying some clip-on handle bars, really liking the look of the war machine/ street fighter-esq bikes guys have made. The only problem is that I have no idea what size to get. When I bought my bike, the guy informed me I had a wide-glide front end on it. Loking at the pictures of it, the triple trees look like they are a ebay wide-glide kit( matched up the CNCd grooves). Is there an easy way to tell what diameter fork tubes I have? Easy as in that I could ask my wife to go out in the garage and check? Also, I've noticed some clip-ons say they are 7/8, will these work with my stock controls? Being stuck out here in Iraq is really stiffling my modifiaction schedule.

If that's your bike in the pic it looks like you have 41mm tubes and 7/8" will not work. You'll need 1".

Good looking bike. Tanks a little big. A 2.2 would set it off slick.

And just a little of my opinion, clip-ons with a wide glide front end puts the bars way wide. The "street-fighter" look is usually narrow.

Have you seen clubman bars? Those would locate your hand controls to a similar position as clip-ons but not as wide.

Yeah, I've seen the clubmans and I like them, maybe I'll go that route. I hadn't really thought about how much wider it would be than my current setup. I've heard nothing but great things about the Biltwell's. Right for the price too.

Would be alot easier to install too...just a bar swap vs. pulling your tubes out of the upper tree.

I say go with clip-ons and do a high degree pullback to reduce the looks of the bars being too WIDE, like Mike said.

I've always though I had a 2.25 tank on my bike. Every time I go to gas up, even after running into the res, I wasn't able to put more than 2 gal in it.

It's hard to explain why that happens but you'll see alot more backbone with the 2.2. Here's a pic of one of mine with a 2.2.

I'd like to see more pics of your front end if you can swing it. Specifically around the lower tree around the neck.

You seem to have a big twin style wide glide. That means your fork tubes are indexed closer to the neck than stock. That also means you have less trail than stock. That, coupled with your fatter 16" front tire should make for a zippy & fun ride.
