Quick question - I need to change the leaky rocker cover gaskets on my Nightster. Do you need to remove the tank? It looks like it will clear without removing the tank, but thought it better to ask those who have already done this.....thanks.
I've had this done twice to my Iron under warranty. I asked why it would take them 3+ hours when they gave me the ETR and they told me they had to remove my tank to get to the rocker covers.
I'm only relaying what I was told by a certified Harley mechanic. If he is slow, I guess he is slow. I'm sure they have a book that tells them how much time to charge for a repair.
Are you changing just the covers or the rocker boxes and covers? It will benefit you greatly to take the tank off. Like said above, it's a quick removal. If you are just changing the covers it's quick and easy. Although you gotta weasel the back one some to get it out from between the motor and the frame. But there are no settings or positions for the rockers just to change the covers. If your not familiar with what it takes to do the rocker boxes themselves, don't touch anything till you have a manual.
Yeah while you were posting that my dumb-*** caught my own mistake. I was going to try to edit it. But I'm out in the middle of nowhere on my iPhone. And it takes forever to load and I gave up.
The mobil site format works pretty good. But if you try to switch to full site (there's no edit on mobile format) their site just damn near locks this thing up.
