Default Dual Star Heated Grips Install/Powerlet Plug

I was considering buying Harley heated grips for my XL 1200 L, but noticed a few posts about: unreliability of Harley heated grips; expensive product; and expensive installation charges by dealer -- gave me pause. I am familar with Dual Star heated grips, having used them on other metric bikes -- total cost including variable heat controller is about $100 and they were spot on for 3 years. Has anyone installed these on their Sportster? How difficult was that?

In my opinion, heated grips are much better than heated gloves, I also have a Gerbing heated jacket liner; so, second question, has anyone installed a Powerlet-type electrical plug on their Sporster? Where did you put it and how difficult was the install. Would appreciate any advice. Regards, McCleod.
