Also are you looking to do it yourself or a shop?

I've been shopping around myself for my Iron. NRHS kit for $700 and dealer I was talking to quoted around $1,000 for the work and dyno.

How about some info on your bike for starters?

Year?

EFI / Carb? Any motor mods done yet? IE: Pipes or intake?

Well I'm thinking about buying an iron and doing the conversion.....or I might just go with a 48 or 1200c. I like the blacked out motor......going with the iron 883 seems like the cheapest way. Thoughts?

im actually doing this as we speak...i didnt like how any of the 2011 nightsters looked so i decided to do a IRON 1200. Conversion at the dealer is about 2k. Only reason why i went this route is so i can get the 2 year warranty on the motor. If you buy an 883 and did the work yourself or take it to a non harley shop they can void your warranty.

Default conversion

well I have a 2005 883 and after reading here about conversions decided to do my own I am pretty handy and have rebuild lawn mowers and snow blower engine ... this really isn't much more complex ... so I found on Ebay a set of 1200 stock cylinders off a bike a guy upgraded ... $80 plus shipping for the complete set of 2 cyl, 2 pistons, rings and wrist pins ... they are due this coming week and since it is 7 degrees in the garage this morning I will be waiting for a little warmer weather ... in the mean time I bought the clymer shop manual so I know where I am going and will need to buy a gasket set ... after looking at the jugs I will decide if I want to hone them or not ... supposidly they only have 1500 miles so shouldn't need much ... certainly can't get any cheaper than that ... it only took 2 weeks to score the set ... good luck

883 tranny pulls 4,200 rpm's at 75 mph,,
1200 tranny pulls 3,500 at 75,,

A converted 883 will be a real crank yanker In town,,,
But to damn buzzy for me at Superslab speeds,,
Something to consider,,,,,,,,,

If you want your converted 883 to be a bit more highway cruising friendly, I think a few people have gone to a 29T sprocket from the factory 27T. Just another potential item to add to the list...
