Opinions on 2007
Hello all. This is my first post on the sportster site. I am generally on the touring board.
I have been searching for a second bike and think I may have found one. I have an opportunity to purchase from a client a 2007 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Sportster. The price is right $5500 and the mileage is right 625mi. I am going to take the deal but was wanting some input from those who have one, has had one or just anybody else here familiar with the bike.
Thanks in advance for your input.

wow, an injected sporty that is almost new for $5500? nice- just make sure it rides well. assume it hasnt been dropped?
in any case, it has been sitting and you want to make sure that the fuel hasnt tarnished the injectors or other parts. even if it had, it would be worth fixing for that price. nice find!

The only real issue with the '07 models is that it's the first year of the EFI sporty, and MoCo put the fuse block in the wrong location allowing water in to corrode the fuse block easier. However, it's not hard to clean the block up and coat it with some dielectric grease to cure the issue. Oh, and don't get sucked in with the "50th Anniversary Limited Addition" BS. It doesn't make it any more special than any other sporty offered that year or after to most motorcyclist. Sounds like a good deal though.

as stated above the water intrusion with the fuse block is the only issue I have had with my since I bought it new. I always carry a spare starter/system relay with me. Dont get caught without one. That is the one thing that kept getting corroded time after time. Once they go bad you can clean them all you want but they wont work anymore. I always make sure to blow the water out of the relay/fuse block after riding in the rain or washing. And squirt electrical grease in there once in a while.

WOW dude jump on that bike now! I have a 2007XL 50 and would not seel it that cheap and it has 17k on the clock. What # and color is the bike? 2007 was the first year for EFI, but over all they are good bikes. I have had to do repairs to mine, but I use to ride it hard and it was just issue like all sportys have. Again jump on that bike now!

Understand about the "Anniversary" edition not being a big deal. That is really a good thing because what I want to do is either chop it or retro it so it will not necessarily be an "Anniversary" edition anyway when I get through.

Check on the paint scheme $$$ though first before chopping as it could be a pricey item you should hold onto or could sell for mucho $$$$ on Ebay/Craigslist to pay for some of the mods. I'd buy another set of cheap tins to chop on.
