nightster handle bars vs iron bars
the other nightster/iron bar thread got me thinking...................
anyone ride with both these bars enought to tell me if they feel any different?
i wanted a bit more pullback than the stock iron bars and -on paper- the nitey bars are it.
a while back i bought a used nitey bar for my iron. holding them over my mounted iron bars, the nightster bars do pull back more... but only because they are wider. it seems that if i cut the nitey bars' width down as short as the iron bars theyd be near identical pullback.
because of this, i never got around to trying them on the bike... didn't look like it was worth the effort.

Well I have rode a 48 which I think has the same bars as the iron. I own a Nightster and the stock bars are larger than the irons for sure. If it is more long haul comfort you are wanting to go for, I can tell you that I had back and neck pain on long rides with the stock Nightster bars. They were still a bit too forward and low for me to be able to sit up straight/move around with. I switched them out for 14" apes and all is better now, but I could have probably gone with 10 or 12 inch and been comfortable as well.

All these bars are very similar. For me to believe that Harley's cheap budget would allow them to produce all these very "like" bars in a shorter/more-less pullback fashion would absolutely BLOW MY MIND. But I've heard they ARE all different. I still would like to argue this....
I really love the look of Cafe-style bars, but don't wanna ride in the 'attack position'.

but, nightster bars are also wider by several inches. so basically if you slide your hands in an inch or two on the nightster bars they are then nearly identical to the iron bars... in pullback especially.
i didn't want to go through the trouble of changing them out if i'm not gonna see/feel any difference where they are so similar.

i like the forward lean on my stock iron. i never really have back or neck pain.
but my elbows lock out sometimes and i don't feel loose/relaxed when that happens and i have sore arms (around the elbows) occasionally after riding for several hours.

You might look at some taller risers with some pullback if you don't want to change bars.

I like the forward lean as well. You just feel cooler and more aggressive while riding. I push my apes forward in the risers (perpendicular to the ground) just for this. Then when I go on longer rides I pull them back parallel with the forks. If elbow/arm pain is your problem a little more height and pull back is definitely the way to go to get your weight off your arms a bit.

i might just drop the nightster bars on and hope for the best. if they are no better then i can continue on the riser route.
