Default Anyone have a Sporty as a second bike?

Just wondering, as I am going to be picking up a second bike and tossed around the idea of adding a sporty back into the stall. Had one back in 05, and it was a fun bike for short trips, and rides to work. Now I'm looking to get one and make it into something cool. Maybe blacked out, or even go retro.

Give me your two cents on the issue, and post pics of your highly mod'd Sporty's. I dig the stretched tank look, and maybe even a set of apes. I'd be looking for info on which years to avoid, and I'm also going carb'd.

Thanks fellas-

I have a Sportster as a 2nd bike...and a 3rd. First bike too. I have 7 in my fleet. Nothing along the lines of what you're looking for though.

Yep, got an 883l for a "second" bike.

Only time I don't ride the second bike is if it is a longer 2 up trip, or really cold and need some wind protection.

I have 2 Sportys does that count? They are great bikes and alot of fun to ride and you can mod the crap out of them.

I currently have a Kawasaki Ninja as a second bike. I am thinking of giving it to my son and getting a sportster as my commuting and errand bike. Maybe this summer?

If I weren't so tall, I wouldn't mind a Sporty as a second.. I looked like an ape on a tricycle on my wife's Sport, though.

I got one. Does not get ridden much at all even though it's fun and cool as hell. I really prefer the ride of the Softail over the Sportster, even though the Sportster sounds waaay better and is faster off the line. I think a better 1-2 bike combo is a Touring bike along with either a tricked out Dyna WG or SB or a tricked out Softail...just my .02.

I kinda have a Sportster as a 2nd bike. I have a Fatboy, and my wife has an 06 1200 Custom. Now every mod that has ever been done to the Sporty, along with all maintenance has been done by me. So I get to ride it whenever I want. I don't ride it much cause she has a reach seat on it, and that puts my man parts on the gas tank when I sit on it. Too lazy to switch out the seat just to go for a ride....but when I feel the need for a quicker bike, I take hers out for a spin (much to the dismay of the family jewels!)
