Default New life for an old, crusty haggard Bates seat

I found this beat to hell Bates seat in an old cabinet at an old chopper shop when I was lingering around one day. I didn't even bother to take pics of what it looked like at first because I thought it was trash...but I messed around with it anyway.

Here it is after I had already sand blasted it for a while.

It had a decent layer of rust and quite a bit of crusty rotten leather stuck in blotches all over it.

I got it all of the way clean, fixed some holes and replaced the mounting studs then powdercoated it.

Took it to a good friend of mine that does automotive interiors...never a bike seat but has always wanted to bla bla bla.

Here it is now.

Black leather (genuine leather) and black nickel rivet/rings (not sure what they're called) a thin layer of moisture resistant pad and a single black leather lace.

I'm diggin it!

I like it a lot. Be sure to post some pictures of it when you get it on your bike.

I really like that seat now. Unique, cool, tough. Very cool.

Oh, and they're called "grommets."

Yeah, I've been pretty lucky. Never really had a bad "day" but I did have a bad 10 years! I'm not saying I deserve anything because of it. I simply realized that it was all my fault and that if I have the power to impose such an impact on my own life it's going to be the life I want.

"After school special" rant over lol.
