Gravity is what's causing it to come through that filter. If I use that filter/hose deal I mount the filter above the crank case vent holes like this.

NOW YOUR COOKING MIKE! Oil will not run uphill. I am doing this mod now, thanks for a great idea. I will try to send pictures later. You may eventually collect enough oil in the loop below the breather hole to cause a problem, very tight loop hope it does not collapse. Might work better to come out of the breather holes going up immediately. Am wondering if a gas filter (lawn mower size) would be sufficient as a breather?

I use fuel injection hose so it won't collapse. The bend isn't tight. It runs straight down then around the bottom of the carb up to where it is. I later moved it because my wife didn't like seeing it (that was on her bike).

But here's another idea since this thread keeps popping up.

The carb mount kit comes with head breather bolts and spacers with a barbed nipple to hook the hose to. If you pull that nipple out the hole left behind is the correct size to thread 1/8" npt.

And that's it. Thread in the 1/8" npt breathers and you're done.

This works very well because the bolts that are drilled all of the way through are weakened and some people are a bit confused about how little torque is required to hold the carb bracket on...or, don't notice that the holes in the cheapy carb brackets don't exactly line up with the heads ending up in a broken bolt.

And with the vent facing up and the bolt having its own hole that doesn't line up with the vent the oil shouldn't escape.

Not to mention that it's super easy and everyone can do this one.

Thanks for the additional tip with the breathers. I made one of these air cleaners when you first posted and this will make it even better.

That's a super clean setup Mike! Let us know when you get some miles on it if any oil finds it's way out. Thanks.

If you have a Fastenal in your town they can order them. McMaster Carr also has them on their site BUT I've been ordering them from MSC because they're polished.

Will that setup work on an EFI? Specifically the distance between the mounting points on the head and the throttlebody?
