If you take it to a dealer you'll pay around a hundred bucks for a "stage 1 download". That adjusts the parameters to add fuel & what-not. That's all I did and haven't had any trouble but I'm not a gear head. If you want to optimize every ounce of performance that doesn't really exist with a Sportster you can drop a grip on a tag along fuel management unit like Vance & Hines has or Power Commander...but do your own research as to what fits what you want best. You can probably spend a whole weekend reading threads from here about it. Remember though, this is an open forum. You need to take everything as an opinion and come up with your own decision.

But I am new to carbs, and jetting, and tuning. As a noob am i going to have to take my bike to the local Harley Dealer and have them "tune" it up after I put on my personal A/C?
One option for more fuel.

I am wanting to do this but the only brackets I can find are for 1991 and up (i have an 89) Does anyone know if the 91 bracket would work? I dont really know what the difference would be. Also, it seems that my breather is down by the gear case cover. (tube coming from gear case to air filter) So I would not need the breather set up that is seen a few pages back correct?

The bracket should still work but you'll need smaller bolts where it fastens to the heads. The newer ones have 1/2" bolts there and yours are smaller. 3/8 or 5/16 I believe. My brackets have all come with the extra hardware to mount them to the older bikes.

And the cam cover vent is really cool. You won't need the extra filter like you see that comes with the brackets but you'll need some sort of filter in the hose running from the cam cover.

You might need to modify the carb bracket a little bit to get it to work...or just make a simple bracket since all it does is hold the carb.

finally got mine done and added X14ied's as well seems to run much smoother and a bit stronger. i will eventually replace the tubing with one of the breather rings that takes the head gasses and puts them in the carb , took about 30 min after i got all the parts together, all in all a nice easy mod
