Default Headlight question, and Additional Front diving Lights>>>

Me again>>>>>

ok, So who rides alot at night..... ???

I'm looking for some feedback and ideas on getting better/stronger/brighter lights for the bike.....

I like to ride at night, but the stock Harley headlight is weak.... I put in a PIAA Extreme White PLUS bulb, P/N 70456, which was suppossed to be brighter.... Maybe it is a little, its definetly white now not so yellowish, but still not enough....

Anyone change their bulbs yet ???

My bigger question is has anyone added extra driving lights to thier bike ???
I was thinking about getting something from PIAA or Even Kuryakyn.......

any thoughts ?????

I swapped the stock H-D headlamp with a 5 3/4" 'Diamond' model I bought from Zanotti, and also used a Sylvania Silverstar bulb. The new lamp has no internal bulb shield and a clear lens with no logo badge on it. The bulb is a lot whiter than stock (probably similar to your PIAA) and the lamp design eliminated the dark field in the middle. I also found that my headlight was adjusted too high from the factory, and it made a big difference with the spread of light on the road once I adjusted it per the service manual.
The other headlight I considered before I did the above work was the HID conversion that Custom Dynamics has listed, but I think the entire package is close to $500, and I'm satisfied with the results from what I've already done.
Good luck!

I have the stock headlight on my 2000 along with factory running lights. I ride a lot of nights and love the extra light on the roadways. That of course required a new windshield with the cutouts for extra lightbar but what the heck. I not only see more but even in daylight hours the extra lights help cagers be more aware of me.I also replaced the stock rear brakelights with the Kuryakyn set that blinks 3 times when I hit the brakes. Very bright and noticable change. Next addition to my bike will be a set of mirrors with the turn signals built in.

I, too, changed to the PIAA Extreme White PLUS bulb. I got a vast improvement by raising my headlight slightly. It was obviously not set correctly at the factory...

I run with my high beam on 24/7.

I might try the Sylvania Star bulb when I get a chance. Until then -- high beams. Have yet to be flashed by an oncoming car or bothered by LEOs.

Here is an earlier post on this topic.

I went with the HD passing lights. I liked the look.

Part#: 0901-0577
Clear lens with a chrome diamond reflector
Includes a P43T H-4 style bulb (60/55W)
Fits most 5 3/4” headlight housings

http://www.shopzanottimotor.com/shop...8&catalogId=13

They have a price of $41.95 now; thought I paid a little less a month or so back. Not sure if they discount that price once you go through the whole ordering process...

You might also want to contact Daniel Stern at http://danielsternlighting.com

I changed the OEM HL reflector and bulb in my '05 Dyna (same setup as your Sporty) and the new reflector made the entire light much more visible in the day and lights up the road at night. If you get a better bulb but keep the stock HD reflector, you've only gone 1/2 way to a much better light.

I've also added the passing lights to my ride and that makes a world of difference both at night and during the day too.
