Default Sportster ride at the Dragon?

Are there any HD or Sportster group rides at the Dragon planed for this year? Back in my sportbike days, we would have a R6 ride there.

Harleys and the Dragon? Seen it done. Not quite cruiser territory though.

A group of us from NE Ohio are planning a trip to the dragon in May, if anyone is interested in going along, let me know.

2005 HD 1200 sportster custom. I live just outside of Louisville,Ky. Sounds like a good ideal for the Dragon run. I`m in if this spring or summer. I go every year 2 or 3 times. Dave

Agreed. I never understood all of the cruisers, baggers, and even choppers that go there. A properly set up Sporty could be good fun at the dragon but that is the last place I'd take a cruiser or lowered bike. The Cherohala would be MUCH more enjoyable. The curves are somwhat gentler and the scenery is second to none.
I rode there (Dragon and Cherohala) on my GSXR and it was GREAT fun, until I got stuck behind a couple of dang cruisers scraping and grinding at 20mph on the dragon. I couldn't pass because they would scrape and then run wide on EVERY STINKIN' curve and they WOULD NOT move to the side and let us by. I didn't feel like being a total horses rear and blasting by them so I finally pulled over into one of the pull off areas and let them get ahead far enough that we wouldn't catch right back up to them. Agrivating.
Like I said, a proper (non lowered) Sportster would be good fun but all of the grinding on a lowered model would be a miserable time for me. Once hard parts touch down you are but a few degrees from losing some skin. There are a LOT of very unforgiving shoulders on the dragon too. Not the place I'd want to slide off.

I only mentioned the Dragon, because everyone knows it as a bike destination. I agree, the Cherhola Skyway is a much better road. There are plenty of great roads in that area. I was just curious if they had a group ride planned in 2011.

took my "lowered cruser" (lol) to the dragon this year and if you ride your bike right its the best dam road I personaly have ever riden (for aggressive riding anyway) I road it with a bunch of sporty chopper guys and some of the guys with the most knarley chops were riding it harder than alot of the rockets up there, (no, no knee draggin but my exauhst, pegs, kickstand and a couple of times frame was draggin around).I also hated the slow *** riders who hoped on there to enjoy the sceenery...alot of other roads up there to just chill on...I feel like that road SHOULD be for aggressive riders! I know the crew I went up with we were normally jamin around 35-45mph. alot of people are just scared to push their limits on their bike because they don't even know their bike that well IMO. ride that **** and have a great time! Its a blast and your sporty will do what you want it to do up there

One thing...if anyone ever gets the chance to ride the dragon at night don't miss out! one of the best experiences in my life on 2 wheels
