Sportster Bar Clamp Width?
Hello everyone,
I found literature on the net last year when swapping my wife's bike's bars, but I can't find it anywheres now. Looking to put 4" crazy 1-1/4" Z bars on the 98 Sportster Custom, but want to keep the stock riser/speedo clamp assembly as it has the anniversary plate on it. The drag bars don't do it, and don't have the stock bars. Got all the stock cables which suit the stock 4" rise.
I believe the 1" clamp area should be 5-1/2" wide, where the 2 piece clamp bars are typically 5-1/8" wide.
Can someone here confirm this? Many thanks!

Thanks man for the confirmation. My wife had 1-1/4" drag bars and they tappered perfectly, but I didn't measure the clamp taper after taking them off, and we sold them last year. I did read on the net that some people had to shave their clamps to make their bars work, and one person actually cut their bars in 2 to clear the clamp (not sure what bars they had). Want to get my son's bars on before he comes back from out west for him to see his bike in person for the first time.
