Default Sportster runs rough hesitating on acceleration.

I just rebuilt my carb on my 1996 XL1200C due to a leaking accelerator pump boot. After installing all the new gaskets and diaphragm and spring the bike runs rough and has a bad hesitation on acceleration. The bike ran fine before just leaked gas. Does anyone know if its possible to put the pump diaphragm in upside down? This was my first rebuild try ever. So mistakes could be made. Any help much appreciated.

I thinks its possible.

I bought a kit for my carb and the new diaphragm was so stiff it would not work at all !
