Sportster Hesitating accelleration.

Sportster Hesitating acceleration.
I rebuilt my 1996 XL120C carb due to a leaking accelerator pump boot. The bike ran fine before but after new pump diaphragm and gaskets it runs rough and has a major hesitation on acceleration. could I have put the diaphragm in upside down? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
