Default 2003 King tank on a 1993 Sportster

Anybody know if this is do-able? I assume the 03 is fuel injected. The fuel petcock is on the same side. how much bigger is the King tank from the original 93? Thanks for any input.

Don't assume on the fuel system, 2003 RKs were carbed, but had fuel injection as an option. Not all were injected though. It was not standardized until 2007. The 2003 King tank is a 5 gallon, 2007+ will be 6 gallons.

I think he's talking about a King peanut tank (which is the little peanut).

If that's the case, the petcocks are not on the same side. I have some King tanks and some 03 Peanuts. I also just happen to have an 03 and a 93 stripped down in the shop. I can see if the mounts are the same. I think they're a little off...

But an 03 Sportster is not fuel injected.

Thanks for clarifying. I feel somewhat retarded though.

Lol...easy to confuse. Especially since there was just a thread about a Road King tank.

Ok man...the 03 & 93 mounts are the same but if your key switch is still on the top motor mount you will have issues with the 03's petcock location. Now, if you're getting a killer deal on the 03 tank, moving the key switch is an option but there are tons of places that sell the same tank with a right side petcock and it'll be a direct swap.

Thanks for the help. Yeah it's a King peanut tank. My '93 has the petcock on the left, there seems to be some variations with the placement of the petcock for that year. (I've heard of a lot being on the right side).

Well then you'll be good to go. Where is your key switch?

So is the petcock behind it on the same side?
