Why is there such a large gap between the visor and the headlight? I guess that was before you mounted it? IMO this is the only fairing/visor that should be added to the Nightster/Iron.

You are correct. I ran a Ness 1/4 fairing last season. It does a great job of keeping the wind off your chest, however, it does get a bit flimsy at high speeds or in areas with high wind-gusts. The flimsiness is minimal though if you have it mounted right...it still does it's job.

I did recently switch over to the H-D 1/4 fairing because I wanted something more rigid...it's out getting painted right now.

That is when it was first mounted as I followed the instructions. In the kit there are 2 spacers that the instructions say are "Only for Dyna" models. This is wrong, if you do not install them you end up with that gap. Install the spacers and the visor fits flush against the light. I'll have to get some pics AFTER spacers installed so you can see how eveything fits nice & tight.

Here the pics with the visor adjusted WITH the spacers added.
Definitely looks better without that gap.

Ive used plastic sidewalk flashing from a hardware store to bridge the gap between the headlight and fairing.
You can use ABS glue, epoxy, maybe even super glue. To a fix it to the fairing.

I saw a guy use a section of a tapered plastic flower pot to transition between fairing and headlight - looked pretty good!

For a little different look and some options check the offerings by "Rifle", several good looks to be had.

Thanks Osco and everyone else. I had a chance to see the HD quarter fairing today and knew right away that it was what I was looking for.

I went with the Rifle Roadster on my '89 FXR. Liked it a lot with the 15" screen and even more with the 17".. This fairing gives very good stability to an already stable bike. I think the 15" on a Sportster would be just about perfect!
