As long as the bike is under warranty, it's covered. Been a problem on a couple of years, but usually does not happen until higher mileage than yours. What year do you have and is it still under warranty?

One of my Harleys, I don't remember which one, was 'recalled' to replace those gaskets. Is it possible that your scooter is one of those also?

I had to replace rear in July of '10 and now forward has gone @ 17,000. It seems as if the MOCO ought to do the repair. IMO

soon as my 2010 iron hit 3k in under 7 months, local dealer was replacing the rocker gaskets.

Yeah, I bought a bike with 7200miles on it (sat around a little while) with the rear box leaking already, and the front one went out about 2k later. Check out Cometic gaskets. I hear they are the best. I just went with the OEM ones, and used a little bit of high temp RTV gasket maker coated on the gaskets to make the seal better. Haven't had a problem since.

well i bought it used with 1000miles but only 1 month warranty from dealer ,
i just keep cleaning it off because i dont have $ to fix it right now
are just the gaskets very expensive? im not a mechanic but ive done many valve cover gaskets and trnsmision pan gaskets on cars and trucks should be similar except the torque has to be very precise.
thanks for the info much apreciated.

The gaskets aren't very expensive. I don't recall exactly how much. Make sure you have a good torque wrench if make that repair.

A modern motorcycle should never leak oil that soon. Even Triumph finally figured out how to keep the oil inside the engines. Come on Harley, join the 21st Century.

The gaskets for my bike, one cylinder rocker covers, came out to a total of about $35-$40. Can't remember exactly. That's for OEM gaskets straight from the dealer. Another $8 or so for the RTV gasket maker and it wasn't too bad. Service manual helped a lot, and it's really not that bad. The hardest part was scraping off the old caked on gasket from the mating surfaces.
