Default To thos who have installed a V&H exhaust system

The instructions (in the section about removing the existing exhaust system) say to "loosen the brake rod at the rear eyelet". I can't figure out why this is necesary -- it doesn't look like the brake rod has anything to do with the exhaust system. Any insight from those who have done it?

How was the installation process overall? I'm reading the instructions to help decide if i want to go with a full exhaust system like the sideshots or just the slip ons.

Thanks

I installed the shortshots staggered on mine. I think that I removed the connecting rod at the brake pedal. It was probably a clearance issue. It's been a while since I did the install but as I recall it was really pretty easy. Just take your time and you'll be fine!!

Thanks.

The short shots are up there on my list of pipes. How do you like them? Are they too loud? Did you rejet at the same time?

Be happy your's says just the brake rod.

Mine said to take the swingarm pivot bolt out. No idea why. didn't do it. No reason to.

When installing my Bassani pipes on my 2001 Sporty, there is a bolt that the front muffler is attached to. In order to get at that bolt, they suggested that I unconnect that rod from my forward controls. Instead of disconnecting the rod I pulled the control off the frame mount. Left the rod connected (and adjusted). Once you pull the bolt out of the lever the lever will slide right off. Thus giving you just enough room behind the rod to undo the bolt that holds the front exhaust on.
