That 48 is a badass ride for sure. When I took it for a test ride, I felt the fat tire made the front end feel heavier than the Nightster. Looks great, but I prefer the handling of the Nightster.
Nighster if you plan on buying used... they are less money than a 48. As far as the power, they both share the same drivetrain, and are identical in those aspects. The Nightster seat is a little more comfortable, in my opinion, and the tank is definitely a nicer aspect for better travelling. Good luck, post some pics when you get one!
take all 3 out on a test ride, buy the 1 that feels right,
Yep, that. On the tank and fill-ups it seems like you're going to have to fill up every day on the 48 or every day and a half with the Nightster so I don't see much of a difference there - at least IMO.
In my opinion if you are wanting a 48 why would you want to switch the tanks for something bigger? If your gonna do that just go with a nightster. You kinda ruin the whole 48 theme by ditching the tank.
I don't think the 48 relies completely on the tank, for me the fat front end and blacked out mill are what makes the 48. The tank and seat are minor touches.
After only 3 responses (which none were supportive) and 2 hours he decides on a 48 which is the worst possible choice for a commuting vehicle. The question was a moot point.
They have turned most of the Sporties into solo bikes. Im glad I bought the 4.5 gallon tank.
You might look at a soft tail for carting the ole lady about. Unless she is small like mine is.
For as little as she wants to ride, The 1200C does just fine.
I love it, the forward controls are standard, and much more comfortable than mid controls, especially if you're taller. Plus, I think your wife will think you're a bad *** drivin' a Forty-Eight.. It just has that look. Seriously, how long does it take to pump 2 gallons of gas? Get it on your way home, and enjoy the ride.
