Default Need some of your guys opinions on some powder coat idea i got

so im in the process of having the bike painted...its going to be a candy apple green color....should look awsome..paint is mixed and i saw it yesterday and looks better than expected....im having the wheels Powdercoated gloss black..motor is still the factory silver color has quite a bit of Chrome.....now what im wondering is i keep going round and round on having the brake rotors and rear belt sprocket powdercoated a lime green to match the paint closely...it would cost me about another $160 to do it so not to bad but im jsut not sure how it would look if it would be "too much" or not...just cant make up my mind...so thought i would ask you guys to see what you thought.

I say PC the rotors black. Make sure that the coater masks off the grabbing surface, BTW.

Also, an extra $160 is pretty high, IMO. I took an intake off a Mustang, four pulleys, an alternator case, two pipes, and a metal emblem to my PC guy to be done in the hyper silver. Looked great, and set me back $150. He charges $200 to PC a set of four 18" wheels.

It depends on the powder used...high temp powder (which is what you want on the rotors) is super expensive compared to traditional powders. I powdercoated my wife's rotors black. I didn't mask the pad surface to make sure I got it down in all of the holes...just rode the brakes for a while.

True, but the high temp is actually what RT used on my engine parts, too. As far as knocking the powder off with the pads, this can be done but can be dangerous for the first ride, and will need to have the pads replaced afterward to be safe.

Ehh...I use high temp powder on engine parts too but for brakes & pipes I use a much higher temp silicone powder which is a bit more than double the price and takes several hours in the oven to cure properly. I can see where the price is justified.

And yes...change pads to be safe, although it's not necessary. I won't.

He probably used the high temp but not the silicon stuff on my engine parts then. He did say that he did not warranty exhaust parts due to the excessively high temps, makes since now.
