Full face, you betcha, Just look at all the squids on sporkbikes with tee shirts, and sneakers.
Thieu $900 bucket will keep them alive.

Fat Tony,

We wore goggles under a face shield snapped onto a 3/4 bell, and had tear tabs on the face shield. I raced that way in the 60 and 70s. Until they didnt let us any more.
I started in TT, and moved to hobby class RR in the late 70s.
The neck collars were no way that fancy. They snapped to the top of the jacket, and or just tied around your neck, and the full face squished it between the bucket and your shoulders.
I never owned one, some of my buds did.
There were enough famous folks snapping their necks to get the industry to make better stuff.

We that raced for fun, were driven off the track.
When the sport went sponsored professional.

I have not been to a track in decades, Im an ole man who puts around on the road. My modified 1/2 skid lid suits me just fine.

No, the ones with a false sense of security are those that ride around thinking that they'll never crash, and therefore don't need to protect themselves. Those "squids on sportbikes" you refer to, are just the same way. They wear the fancy helmets to look good, but still ride like they are invincible. That false sense of security doesn't come from the helmet, but the idiot inside it.

There isn't a car, or bike, racer out there that has a "false sense of security", instead they understand the risk and take every precaution to prevent major injury. The protective gear they wear, including full face helmets, allows them the ability to do what they do, and when the "big one" happens they will have a greater chance of walking away.

Tell you what, one time kissin' the pavement and you'll find out just how "fine" that lid it.

I agree! If my only helmet option available was a half lid i wouldn't bother wearing a helmet at all. They are basically a piece of fashion clothing that goes on your skull.
